"The Impact of Torsional Blade Loads on the Structural Behavior of Large Blades."-video

9/11/2024

Dear network,
On 6th September 2023, Find Mølholt Jensen from Bladena delivered an insightful speech on a topic that is becoming increasingly critical in the wind turbine industry: "The Impact of Torsional Blade Loads on the Structural Behavior of Large Blades."
Key Highlights:
3:10 – Introduction to Bladena
4:05 – Bladena's Design Philosophy
6:05 – Scaling Study on Blade Loads (including torsional loads)
12:50 – Finite Element Study on 80m & 120m blades
22:11 – How to Mitigate Risks for Large Blades
26:10 – Summary
As Find Mølholt Jensen pointed out, many blade designers today still overlook torsional loads during the design phase of large blades. This can have significant implications on the durability and performance of these blades. Incorporating torsional loads is crucial to ensuring the long-term structural integrity of larger blades as they scale up in size.
At Bladena, we are constantly pushing the envelope to bring more robust, innovative solutions to the table – improving blade design and risk mitigation strategies for the next generation of wind turbines.
