D-TE™

Solution for trailing edge reinforcement and tip opening

The D-TE™ a simple yet effective solution developed to eliminate cracks and trailing edge opening from max chord to tip section by reinforcing the blades trailing edge. Thereby removing several root causes which could lead to the mentioned damages without adding significant weight to the blade.

The D-TE™ in the tip area can be used to prevent the detachment of the two shells due to lightning strikes. The use of D-TE™ for lightning damages addresses the tip opening issue of the wind turbine blade and provides a temporary repair solution for the mentioned damage.

​D-TE™ will positively affect the operation of your wind turbine as a trailing edge reinforcement:
  • The D-TE™ is a solution that eliminates the occurrence of cracks on blades.
  • The D-TE™ is a technology that eliminates possible trailing edge openings on blades.

  • Reduced buckling tendency during events with extreme edgewise loading.

Buckling capacity

D-TE™ increases the buckling capacity of the blades. Buckling in wind turbine blades is caused by edgewise loading due to gravity and induces peeling in the adhesive bondlines near the trailing edge and close to the webs. Peeling in the adhesive bondlines directly causes cracks, which may lead to larger failures in your blades. The D-TE™ connects the pressure side and suction side panels which prevents the inward deformation of the panels.

Easy installation

​The D-TE™ can be installed up-tower using simple tools with skylift or using a 360 degree platform.
